The site visits in October offered an opportunity for the participants of the international design contest to take a look at the Northern Maintenance Depot, the future home of the Hungarian Museum of Transport. We asked them about their opinion.
The pre-qualification phase of the design competition for the new Hungarian Museum of Transport has ended. Besides the previously invited eleven architects, four more applicants were given the opportunity to participate in the contest. The design competition for this large-scale cultural development in the area of the Northern Maintenance Depot in Budapest has attracted a great deal of interest worldwide, with 90 valid applications.
The Hungarian Museum of Transport, one of the oldest transport museums in Europe will be rebuilt on a historically significant brownfield site in Budapest. The museum has launched an international design competition to select the best team of architects for its ambitious redevelopment program.
