Airplanes renweing inside and out

Restoration works are making great progress in the newly moved Aeropark Airplane Museum, the largest transport-related exhibition place of the Hungarian Museum of Transport. Here a full spectrum of 60 years of Hungarian commercial aviation is exhibited. Restoration works – a joint effort of the Museum of Transport and the Aviation Cultural Center – concern three aircrafts among the ones exhibited here, and which are part of the  collection of the Hungarian Museum of Transport.

Unique Photographic Documents Published by the Museum of Transport and Fortepan

1200 photos have become accessible thanks to the collaboration of the renewing Museum of Transport and the photo archive of Fortepan. The goal of the co-operation is to present those values of the history of transport and industry which were hardly presented before, and to share these unique photographs with the public. The recently published photographs got into the possession of the Museum decades ago from the heritage of the Ship Factory of Óbuda and of the Ganz Ship Factory. Then they were uploaded to Fortepan.

Pieces from the Collection of the Museum of Transport Appearing in Brussel House of European History

The House of European History opened on 6th May in Brussels and introduces the history of Europe. The goal of the exhibition is to prompt the audience to argue, to ask questions and to think about European history by introducing the history of the continent from the myths and the discoveries, to the chaos and cohesion of the 20th century. 

"Faros" Ikarus - A New Piece Acquired

On the 1st December 2016, the renewing Museum of Transport has acquired a new piece, an Ikarus 66 (a so called "Faros") bus. The vehicle fills a niche since the collection of the museum was in lack of those pieces of the Ikarus factory which were manufactured in great numbers.

Apponyi Coach Exhibited in Fiumei Street Graveyard

A unique collection piece of the Transport Museum was the main attraction during the Night of Museums in the Fiumei Street Graveyard. The restored, decorated Apponyi coach can be visited from 24th June, Saturday afternoon at its new and worthy exhibition place, in the pavilion of the graveyard – thanks to the partnership of National Heritage Institute.

Polaris - A Legend Has Been Saved

We brought home the last Ikarus bus from Great Britain. The Ikarus 489 Polaris was designed and manufactured in the former Mátyásföld factory, and it was one of Europe's most innovative city buses back then. At the same time, this type was the last successful product of Ikarus for export.
